German teammate criticizes Alica Schmidt, known as the “World’s Sexiest Athlete,” after Olympic snub.

Track and field athlete Alica Schmidt’s first Olympic Games turned controversial when the German was selected for met mixed 4x400m relay over a teammate.

The German team coaches picked the 25-year-old to compete, which made her teammate Luna Bulmahn feel uncomfortable – claiming she “earned” the spot ahead of Miss Hubner because she rode better on the track.

Alica had earlier claimed silver in the 4×400 relay at the European Under-20 Championships in Grosseto, Italy. She was on the German squad at Tokyo 2020 which she eventually could not compete for.

The sprinter is also a model and social media influencer who boasts 5.3 million followers on Instagram and 2 million on TikTok.

She became famous in 2020 after she appeared in a video with German football player Mats Hummels. A year later, she took to the Milan Fashion Week runway for Boss, alongside Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls, and Irina Shayk.

The switch from fashionable to comfy wear came when Alica made her Olympic debut at the Stade de France on Friday (August 2)—a move that was not appreciated by fellow runner Luna.

A model, influencer, and track star, Alica previously won the silver medal in the 4×400 relay at the European Under-20 Championships in Italy

On paper, I am Yes the second fastest 400m man. What a foolish decision not to nominate me for the mixed relay,” wrote the angry athlete in a now-deleted social media rant, The Sun reported.

The coaches also made the decision not to put Luna into the mixed 4x400m relay her boyfriend Jean-Paul Bredau was competing in.

Jean-Paul reiterated his girlfriend’s grievances about her detachment from the event. The Olympian said, “It did not all go to plan in the lead-up. Just that I didn’t have the energy,” The Sun quoted as saying Monday (August 5).

Difficult decisions were made, of course, and not everyone was happy with them. The DLV (German Athletics Association) was very clear: the four fastest shall run. Another call was taken there.

Luna was withdrawn from the women’s 4x400m relay by the German Athletics Association after the 25-year-old apologized for his comments, as reported in new. com. au.

We have got the best team possible lined up with an eye on a strong mixed relay squad. The DLV coaching team unanimously decided so and communicated this to the athletes,” the association wrote.

Jean-Paul Bredau has expressed remorse and will take part in the individual 400m. In Paris, Luna Bulmahn will not utilized in the relay.

“Relays are a team sport. This team consists of the athletes and coaches. A successful deal needs the right team, however, and confidence between all parties.

“Yes, I am the second fastest 400m athlete on paper. No, I was not nominated for the mixed relay,” Luna reportedly wrote

But there is no use in wondering what could have been had Luna competed because we already know the result of her absence.

Ultimately, Team Netherlands earned the gold medal, the Americans won silver and Great Britain held on for bronze. Germany then went out of the preliminary round and ended up finishing seventh.

Jean-Paul then finished third in the fourth repechage heat, which ultimately was not enough to progress into the semi-finals.

Alica hasn’t responded to criticism from her teammates.

The German Athletics Association removed Luna from the women’s 4x400m relay

The track star received a ‘world’s sexiest athlete’ title from an Australian magazine in 2020 and addressed her haters while doubling down on staying in the sport.

Thoughts like, “There are always people judging you. It’s the nature of that game and that is part of what makes me feel blessed to have so many supporters on this journey. I am very thankful for that,” the Worms native said.

“I don’t feel like I owe anyone anything to prove. It’s just for me. All I want to do is show to myself that you are worth it.

“And I know how hard that I have worked for that; and I know what I can do, and there is still more.”
