‘I’m banned from US due to racy job—but I don’t care what people think.’

Amyyy-oxxo, a newcomer to the online content scene, known for her saucy and brash ways, recounted a travel story with several surprises along the way. What began as an exciting itinerary for visiting the United States and enjoying a dream vacation soon turned to chaos when the U.S. government abruptly revoked her visa just hours before she was to depart.

Then again, Amyyy had already sunk a whole lot of dough into her flights and accommodations — she was ready for a trip to remember. She had snapped up tickets to one of those places, squirreling us away for a few days into the giddying crowds — this bustle was familiar. She packed her bags, arranging her itinerary and she was set to go. But just before she was to get on a flight, she received a late-breaking notice that her ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) visa had been suspended. Having just announced her policy platform, it left her in a panicked attempt to find policies.

What had happened that Amyyy then got re-routed to Mexico City instead, was a bit unexpected. That meant she needed to get to Nicaragua, since embassy services there are limited to U.S. and Mexican citizens. She had no choice but to scramble her itinerary and move south for help at the embassy. When Amyyy finally made her way to the Nicaraguan capital, she ended up going through not one but two 20+ minute interviews instead of just a few minutes which is (standard).

In interviews, officials were interested in aspects of her online persona. Although she tried to remain on the path of just enjoying her trip, the process with every question became more and more intense. It was uncomfortable and, at times, infuriating” — Amyyy These were details of her work that she had disclosed online, but did not believe they would form obstacles to international travel — and yet the embassy was investigating them.

Amyyy said, “It was a horrible situation. After all the time I spent preparing, I found myself being critiqued for decisions that led to my career.

Amyyy stayed positive despite the adversity. Her story resonated with tons of her followers, who applauded her for being a ‘trooper’ and went on to share their stories. She explained to her followers, “Travel has its own rules and not everybody fits it. “It’s a pain in the butt, but this is what I get to learn from.”

Now, this was several weeks and multiple consultations in Nicaragua later when Amyyy finally found a non-scary way home that didn’t include getting to her original U.S. stopover. In retrospect, she said the whole experience was an eye-opener — and also an opportunity to reaffirm her values.

Once home, she discussed the incident on social media and shared what it taught her. Even though her travel plans weren’t the way she wanted them to go, Amyyy ooze confidence and of course, common sense; this is the story coming from a challenging moment in life becoming not only a funny incident but a showcase of resilience and confidence.

The experience of Amyyy has encouraged many to think about the struggle in travel due to their decision or profession. In an encouraging tone, she told her listeners that adversity often opens the door to growth, and alignment with your authentic self is always a journey worth taking, even when it feels challenging.
